Welcome to Brooklyn!
Whether you’re a resident or a visitor, Brooklyn has something for everyone. We hope that you will use this website often to find up-to-date news and information on the happenings in town, to find answers to questions, to print useful forms and documents, and to subscribe to the various Boards & Commissions’ mailing lists. Please feel free to utilize the Contact Us link at the top of the page for comments and suggestions about the website or questions on town business.
Brooklyn was settled in the seventeenth century and incorporated in 1786. We are home to America’s oldest continuously running agricultural fair, The Brooklyn Fair, which runs the weekend before Labor Day weekend every year. Brooklyn is also the final resting place of the Revolutionary War hero General Israel Putnam, who was a prominent figure in the Battle of Bunker Hill and is famous for the quote, “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes.”
With a population of about 8,200 residents, Brooklyn is nestled in the middle of the Last Green Valley and along the Route 169 National Scenic Byway. We are fortunate to have an excellent Elementary and Middle School, outstanding recreational facilities, and beautiful scenery. We hope this website will be informative and resourceful to all residents and visitors.
