How Can You Help?

Volunteering Builds Community

Your time is one of the most precious assets you can give to an organization and it's also one of the best things you can do for yourself. Volunteering is known to boost self-confidence, decrease depression, and help build social connections in addition to other physical and mental benefits. You can learn more about the benefits of volunteering with the article "Benefits of Community Service" from Western Connecticut State University. Volunteer Opportunities are listed on under "Programs" on our registration website brooklynct.recdesk.com. If you would like to give your time in ways other than what is listed on our website, please email recreation@brooklynct.org.

Monetary Donations Help Us Do More

The Beautification Fund was created for the improvement, development, and maintenance of the department and its facilities. The fund may help to improve an area of a park, provide the equipment needed to maintain facilities or programming, or further develop recreational programs.

Give the gift of summer camp to a child in need of financial assistance by donating to the Jim Boyle Campership Fund. In memory of Jim Boyle, and funded by local donations, this scholarship program enables many Brooklyn children the opportunity to experience the fun and learning found in our summer camp program that their families would otherwise not be able to afford. Jim strongly believed that every child counts and we all need to become involved in shaping a good community. Join us, by helping to send a child to summer camp.

The Toys for Giving Toy Drive is a long-standing local holiday tradition that encompasses the heartfelt magic of a community coming together to help their neighbor in need. Each December toys and other suitable gifts, along with monetary donations are collected from local businesses and residents to help us spread joy to the children of Brooklyn whose families are in need of extra assistance to make the holidays happen for their children. Toy and monetary donations are accepted throughout the year. See more info listed in our Holiday Event section.

Monetary donations are accepted to all funds throughout the year. Please make checks made payable to Brooklyn Parks & Recreation, 69 South Main St, Brooklyn, CT 06234. Please note on your check which funds your donation is intended for.
