Please keep your new card in a safe place.  Your first library card and renewals of that card are free.  Replacement cost for a lost card is $5.00

Your valid Brooklyn Town Library Card is called your Connecticard (your resident library card).  In Connecticut, this card is honored for registration at other public libraries.  You will find your name, address, expiration date and a 14 digit barcode number on the back of your card.

Brooklyn residents must present their valid resident Brooklyn Town Library card (Connecticard) to borrow materials from other Connecticut public libraries.

Your Brooklyn Town Library card gives you access to the following services:

Any Brooklyn resident may obtain their first library card free of charge.  The Brooklyn Town Library is a member of the Connecticut Library Network, which enables patrons with Brooklyn Town Library cards to use a selection of databases at www.iconn.org provided by the CT State Library and the Dept. of Higher Education.  Searches for items may be made using the reQuest database also found at www.iconn.org .

Patrons may search the reQuest computer database for a specific title to see if it is owned by the Brooklyn Town Library.  They may call the library to check the status of the item and see whether it is on the shelf and available for loan.  The person can then ask that a hold be placed on the material if is not in the library and ask that the item be put aside for them when it is returned.

Interlibrary Loan

If you are unable to find an item in the Brooklyn Town Library, you may request that item through a process called interlibrary loan.

The ReQuest database at www.iconn.org may be searched for items not owned by the Brooklyn Town Library.  Patrons may request the item through interlibrary loan using their Brooklyn Town Library Card on the computer or may visit the Brooklyn Library in person or call and request the item over the phone.  To place the request, please have ready the author and title of the item.  The materials are delivered to the Brooklyn Town Library by a van system called Connecticar.  Items usually take 2 weeks to be received.
